An Odd Cemetery ::

I have been photographing in cemeteries for the past 30 years, or so, and I find them to be endlessly fascinating places. I have driven by this particular one for years without stopping in until just a few months ago. The cemetery has specific segments. There is a place for veterans, there is a place for catholics, there is a place for muslims. You get the idea, but there is this one area set aside for babies only and I found this to be somehow oddly disturbing, but I don't know why! Help me out here.

Graffiti ::

Most people see graffiti as vandalism however I, more often than not, consider it to be an important art form although I'm not at all sure what the symbolism is in this:

This is a new image and I really haven't done anything with it yet.

Not A Hollywood Star! ::

This is my friend Lester. The last time I drove through Atlanta we had lunch with Lester and John in Atlanta's East Village and I took a quick snapshot. Not a terribly interesting photograph, but I like to think of Lester looking just like this.

Lester is a very interesting person: extremely quiet spoken and he spends his days helping mentally challenged kids and young adults learn how to cope on their own in what now passes for our real world! That, in itself, is impressive!

A Monday Morning Panorama ::

I've been doing some panoramas for the past year or so although the results are often mixed. This one worked out well.

New Orleans Cemetery ::

I was in New Orleans several months before hurricane Katrina devastated the area and shot this in one of the cemeteries on my way out of town. I haven't been back down there since, but I often wonder just what happened to this area. In the upper right hand corner you can see I-10.

Flag In Fence ::

Taken a couple of years ago in the DeKalb community outside Camden, S.C. The fence surrounds the little cemetery where my grandparents are buried.

Honey For Sale ::

I live out in the country in North Alabama and the guy who has the lot next to me is president of the local beekeepers association. He has 11 hives on this property as well as others that he leases out to farmers to aid in plant pollination.

A couple of years ago I ordered a Fisheye Lomo and I have had a great deal of fun with this little $40 camera. In fact, it is the only film camera I now own.

OK, Here's The First Photograph ::

I live just down the road from a large sod farm and this is a part of that enterprise. The photograph was taken early one Sunday morning with a heavy fog. I also found two other buildings I liked in this fog and I will share them later!

New Photo Blog

And this is the first post, albeit sans photo!
