An Anti-War Protest ::

Earlier in 2008. The police permit was limited to one hour and 100 people on Saturday morning, but I was always amazed at the support from the passers-by. The protests are on-going each week.

A Festive Christmas Tree In A Cemetery ::

I really didn't mean to do 2 cemetery photographs in a row, but, now that I think about it, it's curious that one was done around Halloween and the other around Christmas! I don't remember people decorating graves like this when I was younger.

A Derelict Nuclear Power Plant ::

The cooling towers in the background are at the Bellefonte Nuclear Power plant outside of Scottsboro, Alabama. For some reason Bellefonte was never completed although there is now talk of finishing the construction.

The Flag Tree ::

Every Christmas season people decorate the trees beside this road going over the mountain into town. Last year the city decreed that this was illegal and violaters could be prosecuted and the reiterated that stance this year. I always looked forward to the drive with the decorated roadway and I'm happy to see that some are ignoring the ban on decorating the trees and shrubs!

Long live civil disobedience!

Produce For Sale ::

Actually, I never remember seeing anyone on this corner selling produce, but it is a favorite for yard sales!

The Patriotic Window Curtain ::

Two or three times each year the seasonal fireworks merchants open roadside stands for a few days or a few weeks. This little trailer was left beside the road year round for one of these merchants to live in while he sold his fireworks. It's gone now!

Potters Field

I have probably photographed this scene a dozen times over the years and I still don't feel that I have the image I'm looking for, but this comes the closest!

A Patriotic Truck ::

I just couldn't pass this up without taking a photograph even though it was a cold evening. I didn't particularly want to drag out the tripod so I just rolled down the window and rested the camera on the door hoping for sharpness. I considered waiting 'til the morning to come back, but I was afraid that the truck would be gone with the light of day. I learned long ago to take the photo when you first see the scene as it will inevitably change or be gone when you return!

A Roadside Monument To The Death Of A Loved One! ::

These roadside monuments fascinate me and I'll be sharing some more of this sadness as we go along!
